The project addresses the issue of unclaimed bodies in Chicago. Inspired by the industrial Chinatown neighborhood in downtown Chicago, the project utilizes water and corten as a material to create a long-term memorial and resting place for the hundreds of unclaimed bodies left every year in the city. The cemetery's design is centered around water as a connector and partner to the unclaimed souls, acting as a guide from the beginning to the end of their transition to the other world. The visitors to the cemetery experience a cyclical journey of introspection through transitions between contraction and expansion of zones on the site, marked by corten steel walls, running continuously beside the living (visitors).
