STUDIO THEME

“Walls Which Live”

Our project examines the patterns Courtyards Which Live and Thick Walls, which are found in Christopher Alexander’s A Pattern Language to invent a unique pattern that becomes central to the project design: Walls Which Live. The pattern addresses the need for thickened walls at the thresholds and openings, and allows for the project to introduce dual frontages to deal with the privacy gradient across the site. The various building types on the site allow for an additional layer of flexibility for tenants, whether their needs require a unit that can be detached for privacy, or having additional space to rent out.
