“Ksport”
An abandoned big box Kmart is converted into a physical activity center combating the isolation and suppression of suburbia allowing for social interactions, creative expression, and childlike inventiveness through the form of sport. The removed facade encourages public access while the column grid and truss system are reused. Seven court geometries exist at different scales on the concrete floor. Modular programs move along the grid of columns as a train serving as temporary boundaries. Experimentation takes place with how existing structures, contexts, and geometries can be redesigned to redefine social interactions and ways of playing within them.
