"Revealing Glacial Landscape"

Ann Arbor‘s hilly landscape is especially unique because of its history as an interlobeate region, the intersection of three glaciers, 12,000 years ago. The naturecenter will narrate Ann Arbor’s landscape evolution on scales of the site, of the city, and of the Great Lakes region. The design’s form and steel portal frame construction mimic the slow flowing and gradually altering ice masses that shaped the valley and stream. The nature center will provide visitors with context of the site’s glacial history and glimpses of the landscape to encourage them to explore it on their own.
