[UG2] - HALQUIST - STUDENT WORK

The overnight retreat center is situated on the Challenger Site in Ann Arbor, MI. The spatial experience encourages a restoration of the body and soul, reconnecting humans to the rhythms and cycles of the natural world. The overnight room's mass serves as a sundial casting shadows indicating time, spatial, and activity changes by the hour. The planar roof's sunken rooms serve heliotherapy treatments. Once the sun has set, guests descend from the west facing celestial viewing space into a space for dark therapy. After inhabiting the night shadows, guests fall asleep awaiting the sunrise in the East to wake them.
