Evergreen challenges the perception of nature as an untouched environment. An examination of potential paths for flora, fauna, and humans on site revealed a heightened level of porosity produced by natural conditions. The first floor stays truest to the essence of paths on site with regards to porosity, nature, and openness, but as visitors travel through the building vertical circulation exposes an increasingly restricted and controlled environment. The third floor is an exhibit of Olafur Eliasson’s Life, viewed by Eliasson as a very natural exhibit, but in the context of this new location it assumes the narrative of a deeply constructed natural environment.
