To hear the sea, observe the sea, and touch the sea is how the embassy reminds people to engage a changing relationship with nature and the physical landscape.

Architecture is not only a building but also a monument. To call more attention to environmental issues, some rooms will be filled up with water. Paradoxically, facing metling glaciers, the sea level in Iceland will actually

decline and recede. As time passes, the underwater portion of the building will emerge and rise above the sea, revealing a platform where people can interact with the ocean anew.
