“Build a Shop Workshop”

Functioning as an entry-level makerspace, Build a Shop Workshop educates members of the community about the process of woodworking from tree growth to finished project. In order to accomplish this, tools are grouped by function with each cluster including a beginner option and a more advanced option. Situating the space in this way creates numerous opportunities for passive learning where beginners are exposed to tool usage while completing their own projects. For moments of active or intentional learning, there are currated views that extend from the beginner spaces into the advanced areas that are designed to introduce and demonstrate tool usage and safety before someone is fully trained to use the machinery.
